The neighbourhood
Banora Point sits just across the border in New South Wales, on the western bank of the Tweed River directly south of Tweed Heads, and it's part of the Tweed Shire rather than the City of Gold Coast. It's grown from an original golf-course community into a substantial residential suburb of over 16,000 people, with a mix of established brick homes, newer estates and river-view properties that reflect that decades-long growth, and the golf course itself is still very much part of the suburb's identity. Being on the western bank of the Tweed River, a good number of properties back onto the water or sit within view of it, which adds another layer to the suburb's established, settled character.
The suburb has its own shopping precincts, cafes and Twin Towns Club Banora, so residents aren't reliant on crossing back into Queensland for everyday needs. Dreamtime Beach at Fingal Head is about six kilometres away for a beach fix, and Tweed Valley Hospital sits nearby, which together with the golf-course roots gives Banora Point a settled, established feel rather than a newer outer-growth suburb. It's the kind of place people move to and stay for years, whether they're relocating from Queensland or moving locally within the Tweed. A good share of our Banora Point bookings come from people crossing the border in one direction or the other rather than moving purely within NSW, so the interstate side of the job is often the whole point of the move.
Getting around
Because Banora Point is technically interstate from our Queensland base, every move to or from there crosses the QLD/NSW border — something we handle as a matter of routine, but worth knowing upfront if you're used to purely local moves. We route via the Pacific Motorway and the Barneys Point bridge over the Tweed River to keep the trip efficient in both directions.
We move Banora Point households to and from Tweed Heads, Coolangatta and Currumbin regularly, so the border crossing is a normal part of the job for us rather than a complication, and it doesn't add the delay some people expect from an interstate move on paper. Most Banora Point jobs run on exactly the same timeline as a purely Queensland move.
What we watch for on moving day
For a standard household move, the border crossing itself doesn't require anything extra from you — we manage that logistics as part of the standard booking. Where it does matter is quarantine-sensitive items like plants or garden equipment, which we flag and advise on at the quoting stage rather than leaving as a surprise on moving day.
River-view and riverside properties around Banora Point can also mean sloped blocks or elevated entries depending on which street you're on, so we confirm driveway and access details for these addresses the same way we would for any property with an unusual layout, whichever side of the golf course you're moving to or from. Streets closer to the older, established part of the suburb can also have narrower verges than the newer estates further back from the river.
