The neighbourhood
Hope Island is one of the Gold Coast's premier northern suburbs, bounded by the Coomera River and built almost entirely around canals, golf courses and marina living. Its more than 14,000 residents are spread across distinct precincts including Boykambil and Santa Barbara, plus the gated community of Sanctuary Cove — home to an award-winning marina, the Marine Village dining and retail precinct, and championship golf courses including The Pines and The Links at Hope Island Resort. Each precinct has its own character, from the more open canal-front streets of Boykambil to the tightly managed, security-gated streets inside Sanctuary Cove itself.
Because so much of Hope Island is master-planned around water and golf frontage, the suburb has very little standard suburban housing — most properties are designed around a canal, marina or fairway outlook, which shapes both the layout of individual homes and the access rules that come with living in a gated or body-corporate-managed precinct. It's a suburb where the driveway gate is often as much a consideration for a moving crew as the front door itself, and where a resident's daily routine — a walk to the Marine Village for coffee, a round at The Pines or The Links — tends to revolve around the water and the golf course rather than a typical suburban high street.
Getting around

Internal roads within precincts like Sanctuary Cove are generally well maintained and wide enough for a full-size truck, though visitor parking near the marina and Marine Village can be tighter on weekends when the dining precinct is busy.
