The neighbourhood
Arundel has grown from open farmland into one of the Gold Coast's more established family suburbs since it was formally named in 1989, now home to more than 11,000 residents across a series of housing estates west of Labrador. Families are drawn to schools like A.B. Paterson College and Arundel State School, and to the suburb's direct border with the Coombabah Lakelands Conservation Area — a wetland and eucalypt forest reserve where kangaroos, wallabies and the occasional koala turn up in backyards along the reserve edge, giving parts of the suburb a genuinely bush-adjacent feel despite being minutes from the M1.
Housing in Arundel is mostly a mix of modern estate homes and townhouses, many built over the last two decades, plus a number of golf-course-frontage properties around Arundel Hills Country Club. Streets like Greenacre Drive are typical of the suburb's residential character — quiet, wide, estate-style roads rather than the older, narrower streets found in some longer-established Gold Coast suburbs, which generally makes truck access straightforward and predictable from one job to the next. That consistency across the suburb's estates is one of the reasons Arundel is a comparatively easy suburb for our crews to quote accurately before even seeing the property.
Getting around
Arundel sits within easy reach of Westfield Helensvale, Harbour Town and Arundel Plaza, so if you've forgotten packing supplies or need last-minute boxes, there's no need to travel far. That same central position — between Helensvale to the north and Southport to the south — makes Arundel a convenient stop for us to combine with a move to or from either of those suburbs on the same day, which is one reason it shows up so often as a same-day pairing on our run sheet.
Because the suburb is made up largely of estate developments, most internal roads are wide with clear off-street parking, though traffic around Westfield Helensvale and Harbour Town can build up on weekends and during school holidays. We factor that into timing for jobs on the streets closest to those shopping precincts, particularly if a move is scheduled for a Saturday, and we generally avoid routing trucks through the shopping centre car parks themselves during peak periods. Arundel Plaza in particular sits close enough to several residential streets that we treat it as a landmark for giving directions to the crew as much as a shopping stop for clients.
What we watch for on moving day
We're familiar with the layouts, driveways and access rules common across Arundel's estates, and we regularly move properties that back directly onto reserve or golf-course land — taking extra care with fence lines, gates and rear access on these blocks, since a wetland or fairway boundary often means no rear vehicle access at all and everything has to come through the front. Wildlife along the Coombabah Lakelands boundary is also a small but real factor — we keep gates closed promptly on these properties so nothing wanders off mid-move.
Whether you're relocating within Arundel, heading to nearby Helensvale, Coombabah or Pacific Pines, or moving in from further afield, our crews plan the route and truck size around your specific street and estate rather than treating every Arundel job as identical, and we'll always ask in advance if your property backs onto reserve land so we bring the right approach on the day. That upfront conversation is usually all it takes to avoid any surprises once the truck is on site.
